Did you know that, in the UK, there is National Fish and Chip Day? Fish and chips is a classic British dish, and indeed is one of the nations favourites. The event, which first took place in 2015, is traditionally celebrated on the first “Fryday” in June. In 2021, it will be held on Friday 4 June, so make sure to make a note of it in your diary!
So what does Fish & Chips have to do with slush drinks you may wonder? Well, slush drinks are the perfect accompaniment to the dish. Many of our customers up and down the country are Fish & Chip establishments. In fact, did you know that in the UK, there are around 10,500 specialist fish and chip shops!
Fish and chips is synonymous, and traditionally eaten on a Friday, but why is that? Well, it comes from the Roman Catholic belief that meat should not be eaten on a Friday. In some areas, this tradition still holds strong today. In fact, many schools throughout the country serve fish on a Friday, and many Brits see Friday as the night to have a fish and chips supper. Having a slush machine on the counter, as well as being the perfect beverage to drink with the dish, also helps the fish and chip shops to generate those all important impulse sales, even more so in the summer!
Felling hungry yet? No need to wait until National Fish & Chip Day, these days you can enjoy fish and chips any day of the week. Not surprisingly it has been one of the most popular take away foods during lockdown! So why not head down to your local chippy today, grab some good food, as well as a refreshing slush drink, and if it´s Sir Lush, then even better!
